Roddick Spoils Murraymania

The 73 year long streak will extend one more. Andy Roddick defeated Andy Murray in a tight four set match by a score of 6-4 4-6 7-6 7-6. Roddick broke Murray to win the first set but Murray broke early in the second set. Murray held on to that lead to win the second set. In the third set, Roddick served for the set at 5-4 but Murray broke back and really brought the crowd into the match. The third set tie break went back and forth until Roddick was able to get a mini break and win 9-7. The fourth set was much of the same as both players served well and played strong. Roddick won 7-5 in the tiebreak to set up a date in the finals with Roger Federer.

Both players played well but it was Roddick who really impressed me. Throughout the tournament, I have been really high on Roddick but I did not expect him to get through even with th way he was playing. On the biggest stage against a player he has had trouble with his entire career, Roddick managed to step up his game to another level. Now, he's going against Roger Federer on Sunday in hopes to win his second career grand slam.

What a great moment for Andy Roddick. Just when you think the guy is done, he works harder and shows that even though he may be one of the older guys now, he's still here and he's hungy to win another grand slam. Truly an excellent effort.
