History Made

Once again, Roger Federer has rewritten the history books. As he has done his entire career and as he will do for as long as he plays tennis, Roger Federer has broken another record. This time, a record that many thought would not be touched. A record that exemplifies consistency and domination. A record that only stood for seven years. Roger Federer, the greatest player of all time. He won his 15th career grand slam against a man whom Federer has beaten four times in grand slam finals and three times in grand slam semifinals. If it weren't for Federer, only one could imagine how different Andy Roddick's career would be. Instead, Federer is the one guy that Roddick has not been able to beat in the biggest stage and today, it looked like he would come through. But it was Federer who survived the second set tiebreak and found a way to break Roddick in the last game of the match. In praising the career of Federer and the way he fought to win today, you cannot overlook the way Andy Roddick played in his last two weeks. The way he has continued to fight back when things looked bleak really shows how mentally tough Roddick is. Hopefully, Roddick can come into the US Open confident and ready to go because quite frankly, Andy Roddick deserves another grand slam.
